I don't think I'm playing devil's advocate, only pointing out the facts and trying hard to ignore the news media's interpretation.

As for as the flare growing in the early days... It would have to grow as the debris of the rig was being removed and the flow was becoming unobstructed.

If the 200' flare was 20' shorter today than it was five days ago, I figure with all that roaring and sputtering in the wind, that would be pretty hard to detect with the naked eye. This would translate into a 10% decrease in pressure. That would be significant. And I don't believe I'm raining on anyone's parade by showing that this is still a possibility in the absence of the scientific testing which is sure to come.

Chevron is NOT in the habit of leasing out major finds. They are in the habit of leasing out high risk possibilities.

Let's all be cautiously optimistic. Maybe we'll still be able to have fore and aft deck galleys.
