REH,

Nice picture of that pond!

I was a bit surprised to hear that DDR would capture a significant share of the graphics business- I thought this was RMBS/DRDRAM real strength!?

REH: All of the articles on DDR DRAM indicate that it will be THE SOLUTION for servers, for technical reasons. RDRAM doesn't seem to be adequate for systems with large amounts of memory. Based on this, we can safely conclude that DDR DRAM will be manufactured as a commodity product in large volumes by all DRAM manufacturers (including Micron and the other Rambus licensees).

Both DDR DRAM and RDRAM seem to be technically equivalent for the desktop market. Maybe both will be supported. Maybe RDRAM will capture the market because Intel is pushing it. Maybe DDR DRAM will capture the market because it will already have to be being produced for servers and it will make sense to use it in desktop PCs too. Who knows? We'll have to wait and see.

You're right. The VHS vs Beta episode might be a good analogy.
