They talk about giving the 'small investor' the ability to "own" these pre-IPO and "pre-pre-IPO" companies with as little as $100 or $250. The caveat explicitly stated on the site is that the members undertake their own transactions independent of FairScheme (FS only finds 'em), and that there is no guarantee that all investors will endeavor to obtain purchase, or that all members will even be able to purchase.

Look at the other end - pretend I'm Mister Early Stage "Pre-Pre IPO" business guy shopping around for capital, maybe $500K. My choices:

1. Go get money from a VC firm.

2. Go get money from FairScheme's group where maybe 45 guys wanna give $250, 105 are in for $100, a bunch more don't even wanna play.

One guy doesn't have much money, but he's offering me a big ol' jar of cashew nuts and a japanese TV. Another guy wants to give me $1000, but he won't have the money until Herb comes by with the check for purchasing his recreational vehicle.

Some lady, my saviour, is in for $10K but she needs to sign up about 30 more FairScheme members first, and then get her commission check.

3. Hold a bake sale.

Gimme a break.
