Warning: SAP is not immune. Even the CEO admits it.

Do you not believe that the ERP phenomenon has just begun? At least that was my thinking behind investing in 3 of the ERP vendors at one time (SAP, BAAN and JDEC). I definitely sold off too early on SAP (when Forrester came out with a negative report on their R/3 some 3 years ago) and I was lucky to unload BAAN long before its recent travails, as I increased my JDEC holdings in place of BAAN.

Having chatted with several people in the past few weeks, it seems clear that there will be a Y2K down-dip effect on these stocks, but most of the companies in Europe, esp. the SMEs have a long way to get themselves wired up to e-commerce and stuff. This is where I believe the ERP vendors are going to play centre stage in the next 5-10 years to come, with internet-borne ERP transactions such as purchasing, order entry and shipping, etc.

I think I'll dump JDEC today and go back to the one I started with, SAP, albeit at more than 3 times the price I sold it for.

Meantime, I'm very bullish on GPSI, which announces earnings on Dec. 22nd.
