So Lorrie, what are you saying that families are not important and should not be talked about unless yours resembles the "The Brady Bunch" or something? :-)

The breakdown of the family is the key to a lot of social problems in America. Why not talk about and support families?

If we wanted to make a list of all the politicians who have had marital problems, or been divorced. Then consider them unworthy or something to talk about "family values" I'm sure we could do it.

We could begin with Ted Kennedy and go right through till we reached Newt Gingrich.

Unfortunately the only thing it would do is do is ensure more laws get enacted which help tear down families instead of encouraging them to stay together. This might make some Democratic politicians and supporters happy, but it wouldn't be any good for America or America's children.

The question that always perplexes me about liberals is this. If you support something like "family values". Why wouldn't you be glad to see anybody talking about it on the national scene? Or are most Democrats really against "family values"?

When I see Bill Clinton embracing conservative causes in order to get elected like middle class tax breaks, I'm glad. Although it was a phony promise, it's still a whole lot better then hearing Maxine Waters saying "Your lucky we don't take all your money America" like a marxist.

Family values are important, the more families we have which support core principles of trust, honesty, courage and fairness the better country we are going to have.

Or do you disagree with that basic tenant?

Michael
