So what are the details of the Identix unit? What technology does it use? What components? Did you read the Identix 10q about the acquisition? You will see that they have a loss from the transaction. It was a defensive move because they were unable to develop their own low-cost technology in house despite being "leaders" in the business for years.

Yes, I do have an idea of what it will cost to manufacture the units. I can build a cost based on the component list from the design architecture. I have done this for years in my profession and usually come within 15%. The cost is dependent on volume, of course, and should be able to be gotten down to $30-$40 per unit for a reader module that would fit into a keyboard or cellular phone.

Your comments on the competition are welcome, but statements that because there is competition that delSecur shouldn't enter a booming market sector don't make sense. This does bring up the question of how low cost the delSecur device is compared to others. Independent evaluations have indicated that it works and that it uses low cost components. But I can't say how it compares exactly to Identix's acquired low-cost device. Management and independent authorities have said that the unit is less expensive to build than competitive devices. An intended market is for cellular phones where you would expect price to be a major issue - probably well under $90 per unit. DelSecur would make $5-$10 in royalties per unit sold.
