The system is allot more stable since the removal of Hotdog, WP, Iomega drivers.

What is nuts and bolts? I recall you mentioning it was something like Norton utilities. Some of these programs are a little too good at getting into places they do not belong.

You might want to try a rebuild without Nuts and bolts.

Why not start with the Opera browser? I use Netscape 4.5 but consider it buggy. With extended use it seems to develop defugalties<g>. After a long session I can hear a lot of activity in my system after I close Netscape. I also have intermittent mouse freezes which I believe to be Netscape related.

I highly recommend backing up with Drive Image as you proceed. It makes it a lot easier to go back a step or two. If you do not have an external drive you can set up a partition on the harddrive to receive the backup.

If you have an alternate video card you may want to try it at first.

The modem driver may also be a consideration. Are you using any shared IRQ's?

am open to anything now,

Another thought. Set up a second hardware profile as pae did. You will be able to boot to different hardware configurations. Try a boot without the soundblaster.
