Bandwidth Wars: BancBoston Robertson Stephens Reiterates Buy Rating on Aware
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by BancBoston Robertson Stephens, a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, CRD number 41271:

BancBoston Robertson Stephens senior networking and telecommunications analysts Paul Johnson today reiterated his Buy rating on Aware (Nasdaq: AWRE - news). Aware, located in Bedford, Massachusetts, is an intellectual property company. The company's core technology relates to ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) technology. ADSL, or some variant, is believed to be the technology that will be used by traditional phone companies to deliver broadband access to their residential and small/medium business customers over traditional telephone lines.

''We believe there is an opportunity for upside surprise in revenues and earnings as the market for broadband access begins to develop and accelerate over the next few years,'' said Johnson. ''In our view, Aware has emerged as a leading vendor of intellectual property in the market for broadband access over traditional phone lines. Furthermore, we believe Aware will have the opportunity to fully exploit the market's development.''

Johnson also pointed out that relative to the two most prominent technology IP companies, MIPS and Rambus, Aware has an attractive enterprise value to revenue ratio coupled with strong revenue growth. He believes that these two factors are not fully reflected in today's stock price.

''In addition, both MIPS and Rambus are operating at or neat their respective operating models, while Aware is approximately two years away from reaching its operating model targets,'' said Johnson. ''As such, we believe the possibility of multiple expansion combined with increased profitability over time should continue to drive the stock.''
