E., this was a fine post. It saddens me that one of the greatest virtues of Christianity, humility, seems so sadly lacking in some who post to this thread, while you understand intuitively, it seems, what Christ said, "a gentle answer turns away wrath." Why cause pain if it will cause harm, serve no useful purpose? Christianity can be both shield and sword, but we do not use the sword to cut down our little ones.

E,
That makes sense about AI and their letter writing policy. Could you e-mail me there address. Whenever I've heard about AI helping people who get caught up in the repressive systems of repressive countries I was glad that someone was trying to help.

On the origin of the Universe: We tend to think that everything must have a beginning and an end. Also that everything had to come from somewhere. But this universe operates by certain laws, some that we understand and I imagine many that we do not. But outside this universe those laws stop. What sort of place is that? There is no time there, that is an attribute of our universe. Could things there be constant, having no beginning or end? Could things be made from nothing there? Because we think in terms of time we can't get away from that concept when we think about anything. It seems impossible to us that something could always be or something could come from nothing. That a being could exist there and have no beginning or end. That this being could make the universe and order it's laws by the power of believing. That this being is a spirit and we are also like Him but for now are in this universe of the physical. We would be so small and narrow minded in that scale it would have to be by faith that we believed it, because our rational minds could not get around all that!!
