There have been too many other incidents with Danny ( a classic was that photo op with some Contras where he proudly cradled an antitank weapon - backwards) for any defense of "this usually doesn't happen" to hold water. I don't know what he was like as a person, but he lacked a basic quality most Americans look for in an elected official. "Absence of cluelessness", if you can untwist that phrase! Maybe we should run Dole against Gore. The No-Charisma race.
