here's a little trick, it can give you valuable info, and its very interesting...

next time you log on to a isp, launch your browser of your choice, then for the hell of it lets say you open up yahoo.com.

then minimize your browser,open up a dos screen, to use the ping utility in win98 to trace the route from your computer to www.yahoo.com.

in this instance at the c>windows prompt, you would type "tracert www.yahoo.com" without the quotation's then enter.

this utility will return up to 30 hops, you will see the all of the router's between your computer and the one specified, along with three sample RTT"s for each router.
