ANALYST ANTICS. Talk about traveling in a pack. Today, the race was on
among brokerage houses to downgrade Pairgain as quickly as possible
following last night's announcement that PAIR would miss fourth quarter
estimates. Pairgain fell $2 1/32 to $7 1/32 today. So if PAIR was a buy at a
higher price, why isn't it a buy now? Want to know why? Analysts'
performance stats are based on how their stocks perform (Wow!). But if a
company like PAIR warns after the close, as long as the analyst downgrades
BEFORE the market opens the next morning, the numbers can still look pretty.
Do you think that's screwy? You can't get out of YOUR stock at yesterday's
closing price, so why should they be able to get out of their
recommendations?

Amen, Yes, OK and truly RIGHT!!!!

Thanks for your thoughts, and thanks to Rainmaker
too...much appreciated. Looks like pair is holding
up okay today, so pretty happy about that, I am
guessing a lot of people want to see it test $6
before they get in, but maybe this will be the base.
Anyway, does not matter if you get the low exactly,
when you sell is the clincher...with any luck there
will be a deal and the price at which to sell will
be decided for me;-)
For now, looks like not a bad value play.
