Post says bear called entirely ridiculous Bid.Com International Inc BII Shares issued 21,023,000 Dec 4 close $3.15 Mon 7 Dec 98 In the News The Financial Post reports in its Monday edition that shares of Bid.Com International rose 10 cents to $3.15 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Friday, on volume of two million shares. Market Action columnist Garry Marr notes that shares of the online auctioneer rallied after four consecutive sessions of declines. Bid.Com shares rose 3.3 per cent on the heels of a news report in which Jeff Lymburner, the company's president, lashed out at an analyst questioning the stock's price. Mr. Lymburner told Reuters that a report by analyst Adam Adamou of Taurus Capital Markets contained comparisons that were "spurious" and "superficial." Mr. Adamou had compared Bid.Com's gross margins to that of EBay and Onsale, saying they did not match the latter two. The analyst also questioned Bid.Com's net revenue. Mr. Lymburner says the gross margin figure as a stand-alone point of comparison is entirely ridiculous and very irresponsible. He says that Bid.Com is a "very, very different business" from EBay.
