John, I don't know much about George W, but his father sure had some problems dealing with the MM/RR. Did you know that his pet issue as a Congressman was family planning? So much so that Wilbur Mills gave him the nickname "Rubbers"? As to Ollie North as CIA director, I'd love to see a Republican run on that platform. As I pointed out earlier, it seems the Reaganauts were not entirely pleased by the publicity North gave to them. They thought the whole thing was sort of a blot on Reagans record. In fact, they were displeased enough to sandbag Ollie's Virginia Senate campaign. Aside from which, the cold war is over, last I heard. Funny how many of Jean Kirpatrick's "Authoritarians" (i.e. our "reformable" dictators) outlasted all their "totalitarians". Cheers, Dan.
