What you say is true, HOWEVER..

The company implied that it would win several major OEM deals for Banshee back in August. To date it has officially/unofficially landed only Gateway and several minor OEM deals.

Now, it appears that a major factor in lack of other major OEM deals is the lack of assurance on the part of the OEMs that the chipsets would be aviable in sufficient supplies. I would expect that had the company actually believed that it could land several major OEM deals they would have moved more aggressively to ramp up production of the Banshee.

OEMs won't come without 3Dfx assuring capacity and supply issues. 3Dfx seems unwilling to invest in more capacity without the orders in hand. Is this the happy middle ground? Without seeing the company's projections and cost figures, I can't make an informed decision. However, by designing and opening another Banshee line which can be quickly converted over to Banshee 2 production in Q299 doesn't seem all that far a stretch.

Of course, at this point it's water under the bridge and probably would not be cost effective but hopefully, the company will not make the same omissions in the upcoming Banshee2 cycle.
