Betty, great article. My take is the Fed Gov't and DARPA better send larger checks to Jmar in order to compete against the Japanese.

Has anybody else noticed that the Germans are buying up American companies at a rather fast pace. I hope somebody's eyebrows are raised in D.C.

Has anyone heard about this SMI (or something like SMI) consortium coming out of Silicon Valley. It's a group of 500 companies including Intel, IBM, HP and others. They have invented new serial cables that are 100 times faster than the ones Belkin currently makes. Also they are making plug and play devices. For example, I was at CompUSA yesterday and they had a display of these new products. They had an HP scanner that has a hard wired BIOS with all of the software to run the scanner built into the BIOS of the machine. When you connect the scanner to you machine it automatically downloads the software to you HD. The scanner is also easier to use. It has two buttons on it. One sends the scanned image to the printer and the other sends the image to your monitor. They also had a printer, a copier/printer and some different routing cables.

Has anyone else seen this? Could Jmar make these chips, they sound similar to the ones they are making for the Gov't. They did not sound like the standard BIOS chips that are used by PTEC. The person I was talking with also said that PTEC was not doing the chips or their programming.

Brent
