continued off topic/adsl and pair

Yeah, I think you have to be near a city to
get adsl, has something like a range of a few
miles...but my understanding is that the telcos
can move out into the suburbs pretty easily.
If your in a smaller town or the country, adsl
does not look too promising...but like I said
before, I'm just now learning about all this.

I suspect any problems you may have with speed
is a function of traffic load, everybody bogs
down whether you're on cable or the phone.
The best I can do with my v.90 is in the wee
hours of the morning when all the world's asleep;-)
at 4am I get downloads that go above 56k...sometimes
peaking around 70k/sec, not too shabby. I would
not even attempt to do a download at 4pm est as the
market closes and everybody with an internet acct
checks their quotes!

We should probably take any further discussion of
adsl off the thread, maybe I'll see ya on the g.lite
thread--where there is some real knowledge. I really
don't know much at all yet.
