As I recall, in the past when the TICK is real negative and the DOW / SPOOs held their own, it generally is prior to fairly strong up move. The way I read that is that there is underlying strength in the SPOOs and therefore the negative TICK...once the selling is over, will propel the SPOOs to new heights. Thanks for bringing it up as I have been watching, but that read did not click with me. Maybe it is the missing link for today......
