Does the aol/nscp/sunw make really make the trial moot?

I don't think the withdrawal means much. (Who knows...maybe MSFT offered to open some kind of office in South Carolina? :-) Regardless of what the states do, I don't think the DOJ will drop it, and I'd bet my house that the court won't dismiss it. The AOL/Netscape deal doesn't make anything moot. Microsoft has been using monopoly power to rip its customers and partners off for years, not to mention crushing its competitors, and AOL/Netscape doesn't change that. They continue to suppress innovation and competition, and to maintain ripoff pricing by misuse of monopoly power, and AOL/Netscape doesn't change that.

A few other states might defect, but I still think the case will be heard on its merits in the end.

But in this crazy world you never know.
