ref: oil

13:00 ET Dow -7, Nasdaq +16, S&P +1.78: Overall, a choppy, but rather lackluster trade for the blue chips to this point... Oil-related shares, however, a notable exception to this observation as they have enjoyed some decent buying interest... Technical buying being cited as a reason for their resurgence as is Hugo Chavez's victory in Venezuela's presidential election... President-elect reportedly in favor of complying with OPEC cutbacks... Crude oil +$0.21 at $11.38/bbl. (briefing.com)

LG - I heard on CNBC that the oil co is a tech bounce based upon some of the major stocks hitting a triple bottom ... which apparently is a very strong indicator of an upward move. We'll see if it is a trading rally/dead cat bounce - (GG)
