The IDX system takes a "photograph" of your finger using a CMOS sensor array similar to delSecur. What is unique about the delSecur device is the initial analog processing that is done before the image is digitized and encrypted. The analog method can compare and correlate key signature features in a very straight forward manner and render a derived image or key-set prior to digitizing. The IDX system first digitizes the image and then uses sophisticated analysis and comparison algorithms to decipher key characteristics that differentiate one finger print from the other. The delSecur approach uses digital processing and comparison on the derived analog representation. The basic approach isn't that much different but the delSecur device reduces the complexity of the digital processing. The digital process you refer to for the IDX device is not really digital - yes it uses a digitally rendered image similar to the way a voice recognition program uses a digital representation of the analog voice. But that digital representation is filtered, analyzed and compared using analog DSP algorithms.

The company has been issued patents. They are a big deal to this small company.

Identix is burnt toast! No really - IDX is a fine company and offers great competition to tiny delSecur.
