lucinos, you are a thinker. what you say has some truth. i think xlnx is a no growth stock that won't grow in the future. the company's earnings is the subject. the stock is something different. xlnx has been a favorite for some time. not many stocks can not grow for 3 years and still carry a 50+ pe! i did expect the xmas hoopla to be crazy, but this even shocked me. i'm waiting for some semblance of weakness before putting on a put position. there has been no weakness of late. in addition, xlnx was not on my radar. i was watching mu and nvls. i tuned into xlnx again after addi tried to flame me, the flamer that he is ;-) i took a position in nvls on friday. june 40 puts (note lots of time for the bulls to realize nvls is not making any money - it may take a while ;-). i really doubt this xmas season is the jordanesque slam dunk that the market is pricing it to be. i do have very little respect for the ability of gamblers to exercise common sense. i was dead right on mu in 1997 but got hurt before i finally raked in the dough. the net result - slightly up instead of swimming in cash. i've learned to not underestimate the current speculator's greed and after the fact justification (stock just went up so business must be good). xlnx could hit $70. i hope it does. it just increases my odds of winning and, if i win, increases my payback substantially. being bearish on fundamentals and believing the bulls will not exercise one iota of caution are not mutually exclusive.
