SUN ESTABLISHES ENGINEERING CENTER IN BANGALORE Earlier in the year, Sun Microsystems, India, in collaboration with India's Department of Electronics, NASSCOM and CMC inaugurated a Competency Center For Java Technology, India, (C.C.J.I.) at Hyderabad, India. This center provides consulting on architecting and developing strategic Java technology solutions. Besides providing leadership for the development of Java applications and products, the CCJI is also a resource center in India for Java technology and provides advanced Java technology training on the Java platform. Sun also recently announced the inauguration of the "Java Center of Excellence" in Calcutta in collaboration with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Other Indian Java training centers are located in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Calcutta and Hyderabad. Palo Alto, Calif. - December 7, 1998 -- As part of its global engineering development initiative and reflecting the importance of India as both a major regional market and a global leader in developing engineering talent Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced plans to establish an Engineering Center in Bangalore, India. The center will augment Sun's existing India operations which include a Java Competency in Hyderabad, contract engineering in Chennai, and the country sales headquarters in Bangalore. Development of the new center will begin immediately with designs to grow the center to large scale operation over several years. Plans also include exploring the opening of additional centers elsewhere in India as demand dictates. The India Engineering Center will provide core competency in enterprise software development in support of Sun's worldwide engineering operations.
