Where I work, we have done extensive Y2K tests using Solaris 2.6. as the operating system on Sun equipment.
We have had no year 2000 problems.

Palo Alto, Calif. - December 7, 1998 -- As part of its global engineering
development initiative and reflecting the importance of India as both a major
regional market and a global leader in developing engineering talent Sun
Microsystems, Inc. today announced plans to establish an Engineering
Center in Bangalore, India. The center will augment Sun's existing India
operations which include a Java Competency in Hyderabad, contract
engineering in Chennai, and the country sales headquarters in Bangalore.

Development of the new center will begin immediately with designs to grow
the center to large scale operation over several years. Plans also include
exploring the opening of additional centers elsewhere in India as demand
dictates. The India Engineering Center will provide core competency in
enterprise software development in support of Sun's worldwide engineering
operations.

"Bangalore offered us an opportunity to leverage the region's highly-skilled
computer engineering workforce as well as providing excellent access to
high-caliber education and training institutions," said Geoffrey Baehr, Site
Director, Sun Microsystems Engineering Center at a press conference to
announce the center.

Sun currently has global engineering centers located in Ireland, France,
Israel and the United Kingdom in addition to multiple engineering centers in
the US.

"We believe very strongly in creating a climate that will attract the best
talent the world has to offer," said Greg Papadopoulos, Sun's Chief
Technology Officer. "That's why we're expanding our presence in India. This
decision is part of a focused effort to invest in engineering sites in places
around that world that have demonstrated technology leadership."

"Today's enterprise wide computing environment is swift and intense, which
is why we'll continue to grow our expertise and reach," Papadopoulos
added. "This latest center will enhance Sun's abilities to provide global
solutions and answer customer needs in the Networked Age."
