Or that they can read surf the net, point and click, and put in a day trade. You know, teach them to fish, that sort of thing.

<<Or they might just want better schools. Maybe they have a dream, and thats all it is an elusive dream, that one day everyone that graduates from high school in the US will be able to add 2 fractional numbers.>>

97% of the student population should be adding 2 fractional numbers by the 4th grade. They don't. They have neither the skill, nor the will to learn. More money wont fix the public system because its problems are not based in finance. They are based in a culture that has moved from a focus on principle and delay of gratification, to hedonism. Enter Bill Clinton.

And why is it with all of the desparate clinging to the pursuit of pleasure at any cost do the hedonistic masses constantly complain of bordom; while the principled and goal focused few in society find enrichment everywhere they go.

We're spending 9,000 to 11,000 dollars per pupil. Countries with much higher teacher-pupil ratio are doing a better job. The point was that they want increased spending and employment which is not quite different from people who want to collect welfare and government benefits. Both groups stand to collect more in benefits than they would pay in increased taxes.
