If the new CEO actually fell through --as was suggested here recently-- it's hard to imagine a new prospect solidifying during Christmas. That, plus tax-loss selling makes further 1998 appreciation difficult to justify. After all, some people bought this stock for $44 this year.

Looks like a good candidate for the January effect though.

What strong finish are you talking about? Closing at the low for the day is not normally considered a strong finish.
