Does gold lead, or follow?

I think that all in all, over the years, bullion leads the CRB and the XAU leads bullion.
But I don't have any long-term charts on the relationships. About fifteen years ago I had a chart back to 1900 or so showing gold and oil in constant dollar terms. It was on glossy paper, from a magazine I think. Can't find it now. If anybody has an url to such a chart, or any chart comparing spot oil to spot gold long-term, would they consider posting it over here #Subject-22705 ? ... tia .... cheers
