Steve - Re: "With Katmai moving up to Jan 3 how long before we will see desktops with Rambus technology in your opinion?"

First, Katmai appears to go on sale (to OEM's) on January 3, 1999 - there is no indication that a formal roll out will occur on that date.

Second, the initial chip set for Katmai will be the 440BX - same 100 MHz FSB and PC100 SDRAM memory.

The Camino (820) chip set will support Direct RDRAM as will as SDRAM. This chip set will probably not be released until June/July of 1999.

So, expect June/July of next year for Katmai coupled with Camino - 533 MHz Katmai/133 MHz FSB with either DDR SDRAM or Direct RDRAM.
