James, I am glad you got what I was getting at with my post. I realize that all things being equal, he would want to see the bv rising. But importantly, I think he would NEVER rule out a potential investment because the "accounting numbers" didn't fit some rule. He would LOOK AT THE BUSINESS first ( or likely already know it) then make his assesment of the accounting conventions. btw, I want to thank you on behalf of the thread for bringing your investment in BA to light so we could all kick it around. I think its really useful to do that and it really demonstrates the power of this communication process. This is a great real time demonstration and I think it is working quite well. Whether BA performs well ( I hope it works big time!!) or not, I am happy you shared your thinking with us. And it is one we will all be watching. PS: Thanks for the tip on CCG. I just bought my mom a few shares. She is looking for conservative investments.
