Reggie Reggie Reggie... have you already forgotten the senate hearings. A few of Sen. Hatches aids called up the Dell order desk and asked for a system with Netscape. The order desk said they couldn't supply it with Netscape but only with IE. One of the sales person even said he preferred Netscape to IE. Now this pea brain Dell told Hatch previously that he only sells what the public demands. Gates even said at that time Netscape was more popular than IE. I'm no rocket scientist but this would indicate to me that the public demanded Netscape but the pea brain multi millionaire couldn't deliver due to MS monopoly. This is the reason he is a millionaire he listens well to MS demands and this is the same reason he doesn't bundall Linux. Heaven forbid if MS ever lost its monopoly. Dell might actually offer alternatives to MS and the average computer user might get a half decent system.

If you could go to any major computer supplier and get what ever OS you preferred and or software application loaded then this would prove to me that MS doesn't have a monopoly. The AOL Netscape Sun deal was done to stop MS from fragmenting Java. Tell me why when Sun was after Webtv MS came in and bought them for a unreasonable high amount? Tell me why MS new Webtv isn't supporting Java? Tell me why MS has just released a Java that runs only on Windows?
Sun and AOL can't sit around and wait for the DOJ they know how MS operates.

JMHO

But Reggie, Linux is fierce competition for Windows! That's what Bill's Halloween memo said, so it must be the truth, right? Haven't you mentioned Linux as alleged competition yourself?

Cheers, Dan.
