<< FWIW, I think the commercials by First Union are most imaginative. Does anyone know who produces them?>>

The ad agency is Hal Riney & partners (of Bartles & Jaymes fame, current clients include Sprint and Saturn). The voiceover is done by Hal Riney himself. The production work was done by Industrial Light & Magic, George Lucas's studio.

Ad Age's Garfield was on CNBC a couple weeks ago and was very negative on this commercial. His main complaints were that the picture was too crowded for the small screen and the message is muddled (attacks monolithic banks and then shows another monolith at the end). I'm inclined to agree that the commercial, while eye catching, isn't going to do much to increase awareness of First Union. I don't think most people will even remember who the ad was for.

FWIW,

Mark
