Hi Darleen, labour may be cheaper, but the risk factor is greater too. What about a little riot or a little infighting as it is fashionable in Africa including RSA? The 'cheap factor' may disappear very fast. Many investors seem to think about this, otherwise the mining shares there would be not so low as they are now. Why that brain drain in RSA? If you are looking at a worthwhile investment look at a can.jr.mining situation. There is a good selection and if you watch the news this or next week you may hear another discovery has been made. What would you say if it is in an established mining district and the find consists not only of copper/nickel, but is also richly endowed with platinum/palladium/gold and silver and all is less than 200 feet deep.? Of course since bre-ex all jr.explorations are tainted and are painted with the same brush. Then again these co's can't show a P/E , not even one of 300 and so are left in the gutter and only an acute observer will recognize value if he/she sees it.I definitly stick with jr.miners here in Canada. As they say: a sparrow in the hand is better than a pigeon on the roof.
And re schools: not all schools are bad and not all teachers either.I saw my 2 children through University ( one even through Cambridge)despite the fact that they spent their first 12 years in a small country school and I could not speak nor write English until I was 28.I think a little individual responsibility is still the key for advancement, both socially and financially.
