Nancy: Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father. I am sure it must be difficult for you, but thank God he had accepted the Lord before his death. I read your post with interest about the eye witnesses to your father's passing saying that your father acknowledged the presence of Jesus and then told the Lord he was coming. My step-father died two years ago at his home. I was present at the moment of his passing, as were my wife, my mother, my brother, and one of Max's sons (Max married my mother about ten years earlier and he had two sons). During his final moments, my mother read scriptures to Max, he looked at each of us as if to acknowledge our presence and then shortly before his passing he focused on a picture of Jesus which was hanging on the wall. We all noticed it because his stare was so obviously focused on the likeness of the Lord. Max was unable to talk, but his lips moved while he stared at his Lord. We do not know what he was saying as he was too weak to talk, but we were all in agreement as we discussed it afterwards that Max was praying to his Savior, more than likely praising his name. Shortly thereafter Max took his last breath and went home to Jesus. Those of us present at the time found Max's behavior during his final moments to be uplifting and it helped to carry us through the next difficult days. We still speak of it frequently. I might also add that Max's son and my brother are not Christians, but they were fortunate enough to witness the way a Christian dies and Max shared his testimony with them in his last moments in a way they will always remember. I share this story with you because it seemed to parallel your father's passing in a lot of ways. I hope you will take great comfort in the way your father spent his final moments - communing with our Savior. In Christ, Tom
