First place I lived in on Mindanao, long time ago, had a durian tree in the front yard. Moved out the first time an overripe one fell on the path. Never though I'd stop smelling the stuff. Didn't know it had ever been brought to that side of the ocean; guess times have changed a bit. Haven't smelled it in a while, wonder if it would evoke nostalgic memories of the elder days. Drying copra, a pretty lousy smell in its own right, has been known to evoke odd memory-based responses....

I don't know about the steelies. I'm trusting to the home-court advantage, and the accumulated dirty tricks of 18 years in the tropics. Still a bit worried - I hope the airport people don't let the firearms through <g>.
