That review of the Fury over at Avault has me shaking in my boots! The comparison to V2 truly shows how out of date V2 is! 10 x 7 resolution is becoming the norm and you don't need to kill 3 slots to get it! And no big performance hit for 32 bit? Looks like the engineers are better at ATI :)

This is not acceptible- TDFX is now just another player, and Glide is losing its advantage...

Oh, and from my previous post, the thing that pisses me off about TDFX...changing the name from B2 to V3...STUPID! Although I like the V3 logo...BTW, I am building a new system, and will be centering it around a DIMD FUsion...got most of my shit today, but the folks at multiwave decided to send me a graphics card instead of a motherboard...*sigh* and in case you are wondering, I got the AGP Fusion from a local EB :)

Is TDFX dictating to gamers?

Or are they putting spin on their current core chip's lack of 32 bit color?

When Voodoo 1 came out 32 bit color would certainly have been a poor idea. Now we're seeing the evolution of that chipset into the Voodoo3 chip and crying foul that they haven't added it. But I don't think adding this feature is so easy. We'll have to wait for their true second generation (Voodoo Rampage, or Voodoo 4, whatever they decide to call it.)

We'll hear how great 32bit color is when they have it. :)

They tried to differentiate low end from high end and got bad press over Banshee's second-rung status (never mind that they were trying for second rung). Now they're falling back to the tried and true 3000/2000 split (Diamond's been doing it for years, and yes it's confusing. Maybe it's supposed to be. You get the review on the high end and the sale on the low.)

Thiefing Thief

Jeff, I tried to backup my Thief CD, but wasn't able to since it uses a 700MB CD instead of the standard 640MB. I've looked, but have been unable to find any 700MB blanks, and don't know if such an animal exists. I have other tricks to try, but just haven't been in the mood to do so. So, your Eidos concerns should be eased.
