The disks and memory have been checked. 100% fine. The other machine had a....I can't remember, it was not SB, I think it was Yamaha sound card.

So maybe it's the Video card drivers. I think if I complain enough to dell, they may supply me with a different brand of card. The system is only 2 months old.

I am going to give that a shot.

Just found out from dell that there is new video drivers as of Nov.30, so will try that.

The fixes don't reflect the problems I am having, but going in the right direction
support.dell.com
