Now, the K7 is HUGE compared to Sharpy - 184 vs 117 - and Sharpy is already TOO big for AMD to make in sufficient yields/volumes.

There are many different possible cause for low yields. Size is only one of them. It is not safe to assume that a smaller microprocessor will yield a higher percentage than a larger one.

Other factors could be the design rules, poor layout, poor circuit design, etc. Hopefully AMD learned something about "design for manufacturability" during the last two years.
