You are correct that new models have not been announced. My comment was kind of an immediate reaction to the deals. I could be wrong, of course, and it may just be symptomatic of price pressures in the handset market or increased subsidy from the carriers to generate sales. There are lots of other deals on phones for Christmas, so it may just be a competitive reaction. Having been in the Sprint store several times and seen the deals on most of the phones and having after my reactive comment seen ads for other phones my reactive comment may have been premature. However, it seems to me that the company needs to bring out an enhanced phone to compete with the likes of Nokia. As I recall, the QCP-1920 and the Q were shown at the Comdex show in Dallas in September of 1997 and the phones reached the shelves last October or early November. The QCP 1900 was subject to a lot of deals starting about a month or 6 weeks before introduction of the new models. The price cuts, rebates took place before the QCP-1900 were phased out and then the QCP 1900 was offered refurbished at a cut price.

Regarding introduction of the pdQ, the one sales guy who seemed most knowledgeable did not know the schedule for the pdQ to be sold.
