Of course there is always more than one way of doing
stuff. Why wouldn't Oracle want to use say Solaris
instead of writing its own OS. (Those cutely named
OS-less machines.)

There is no other explanation. Why would SunOS's sprintf()
return a value different from AT&T's ? BTW, would that
constitute a modification to "C" ? After all, stdio is just
as vital as awt or whathaveyou.

IMHO, just as GM wants to sell more cars, lawyers want to
sue more bodies. Growth, is the name of the game. Sun and
everybody else got trapped and that game is called greed.
Now they all are caught with their pants down and they all
look the same - wanna rule the planet! Kill 'em all in
"one stroke".

So I am not going to say that Solaris/Netscape/Apple is
great stuff and NT is cra*ppy. They all do some things well.
The car that goes at 150 miles may be efficient on time
but may not be so smart gas-wise. Now I know you all drive
a Ferrari and rides Concorde first class but not everybody else.

Happy Investing.

It seems to me that the prosecution could do well to provide an analogy to make the "integration" concept understandable to the judge. For example, comparing the OS to a car and the browser to a radio, where customers should be able to decide what type of radio to install, and to be able to remove the pre-installed radio. In fact, the radio is not actually integrated with the car. The car still works without it. It is merely bundled/installed in the car, but can be removed at will. Moreover, there is no technical advantage to really integrating the radio into the car in a way in which it cannot be removed.
