Here's a brief comment on yesterday's action by Briefng.com.

"Compaq (CPQ +3) 41 11/16: Stock remained on a roll, breaking out of a 15-month trading range and running to a new all-time high... Move came on volume of 30 mln shares, making it the most actively traded stock on Monday... Big money has been chasing this stock higher, and Main Street is taking notice... Improved relative strength combined with favorable outlook for PC sales among the burgeoning factors that should keep stock moving ahead... Compaq got an added boost Monday from CS First Boston which raised its 1999 EPS estimate from $1.70 to $1.75.

Other PC makers rallied in concert with Compaq, and comprised one of the best performing industry groups... Micron Electronics (MUEI +7/16) was the only component to gain less than a point.

Dell (+1 5/8) announced price reductions up to 11% across its OptiPlex desktop PC line."
