Friend,

This is correct. Lotus recently pulled support of its current and future Domino products from the NetWare platform. They announced it earlier this year.

The question that I would have you ask your company is "Why go Domino if Domino doesnt support your company's current environment?". Unless your company has already made a substantial investment in Notes and related application development, I would serious think twice on why your company would follow a Domino direction. There are alternatives to Domino in both Messaging and Application Development. If your company has a well matured Novell/NDS infrastructure, it would be silly that they would jeopardize the potential TCO savings and benefits in leveraging NDS by putting in Domino.

Again, I dont know your company's reasons for wanting Domino sooo bad that they will switch an underlying platform to implement it, but, the IBM hardware rep is using the following logic on your company...

"Ohhh your car is BLUE, sorry but our car trim only works on RED cars, so I think you will have to replace your car."

What is so frustrating is that CIOs and senior IT management actual fall for this type of logic.

Talk to your company and ask if they have any standards or criteria that new products/technologies must follow - i.e. solution must be NDS aware, or, must run on NetWare platform.

They might be risking a HUGE increase in TCO just to implement Domino.
