Good point Jon, I am also amazed at all the worrying about declining handset prices, especially when carrier specials are quoted.

>If I sign up for $20 a month, that is $240 a year. How large an amount of U.S. Treasuries do you need to produce $240 a year ? Well, at interest rates of around 5%, then it is 20 times $240 or $4800.

If you assume that the marginal cost to an ISP of having "me with them" is near zero, then me walking in the door and signing up is EXACTLY the same as someone donating $4800 worth of T-bonds to the firm's corporate balance sheet.<

You forgot one thing. This does not account for churn and broken contracts. That's why I like cheap CDMA phones-it encourages costly churn from TDMA and analog based services.

The latest news from ITU is encouraging. I'm glad the Q is taking the high road and refusing to back down regarding 3G convergence. They are building a company that will lead us into the 21st century and Q's management is proving their meddle. Yes, shareholders who planned to double or triple their investment in a year or two have been dissappointed so far. But I am very pleased with the way things are going. And, yes, with a crystal ball I would have invested elsewhere for the past two years but I'm not complaining, I will be in when this thing takes off which is looking more sooner than later. Often prices rise before the certainty is widely perceived and I think we are approaching that point.
