Glenn, < I am wondering why other retailers would want to pay AMZN > I'm not turning into a Bull and won't until the 'Things' stock price comes back to earth. To answer the above.
(1) Right now he's known as the Giant on-line seller.
(2) Trust. I'm assuming that most customers would feel comfortable ordering, and giving them their credit card #'s.
(3) Delivery. A proven distribution, and delivery system.
(4) Technology. I'm assuming that he has the best technology and will have for the foreseeable future.
(5) Reputation. No one can deny, that the Bezos PR machine hasn't made him a God, or at least Captain James T. Kirk of the star ship Internet e-commerce.
(6) Aol, Yhoo and Amzn. America's dream team. There's enough room for all three of them.
Just think of him as a transaction processor, and a delivery man that gets a cut of every order that comes in and out of his home.
