IDC's take on DELL's recent price cuts.

Hi Lee

Found this bit in Computerworld on the price cut.

....Dell "has a short supply chain. They go through old parts quickly," said Roger Kay, an analyst at International Data Corp, a sister company of Computerworld in Framingham, Mass. And when the PC vendor begins to roll in faster or newer parts, it drops prices on older models, he said.

Dell is also responding to its competitors, such as Hewlett-Packard Co. and IBM, which have discounted prices on similar PCs, Kay said.
