Looks like Qcom is selling off on the news. I'll have to mull this one over for a bit. Never ceases to perplex. ; )

will we see Qualcomm give?

Mika,

a license to ERICY and we will all go home happy. Kidding aside, isn't that the logical next step?

I can see it now....

"Ericsson, the largest and greatest Telecomm manufacturer in the Universe, employer of 100,000 spread over 7 continents, has once again demonstrated its willingness to compromise in the face of the aggressive and truculent intransigence brought to the standards process by others in the industry.Time and time again we have expressed our willingness to make available our entire portfolio of core, crucial and essential patents to the cause of creating a truly global standard which will greatly benefit all of mankind in the next century.Others insist upon mandating critical parameters of this standard with utter disregard for the interests of the expected 500 million TDMA subscribers around the globe. This is our last attempt at compromise. If others do not see fit to negotiate on a fair, equitable and reasonable basis we will be forced to retaliate and to move ahead without them. We are still very hopeful that this compromise chiprate proposal will be met with open arms."..

And so on.....DMG

Mika, can you please explain just what Ericky has given? I understand they have agreed not to use the chip rate the Q has said all along will not work well. Qualcomm has CDMA expertise, is Ericky agreeing with this expertise? Can you explain in concrete terms what Ericky has given up by this agreement?
