ATHM aside, the doubling of traffic every 100 days is the generally
accepted current traffic growth rate for the largest backbone ISP
entities-- SPRINT, BBN-GTE, MCI-CW etc. All of them report similar
numbers and this is the primary reason for the the rush to the
higher bandwidth trunk services, OC-48/OC-192 etc., and the infrastructure things that go with it--DWDM, bigger faster routers/switches, and the interest in QWST, LVLT and a host of others.

I'd offer chuckles and a bunch of laughs, dare I do a LOL or two? The ironies do abound, though.

Were it not for the fact that this is rather serious business for those in charge of correcting this dilemma, preventing its reoccurrence, and to not the least of all, those who have subscribed to the service.
