Jim:

Does it "solve" the harmonization issue? No.

Does it tell us something very important? Yes.

ERICY has been consistently indicating that it did not need QC's IPR to do W-CDMA...were this true, there would be no need to compromise, no need to harmonize, no need for Ericsson to do anything but deploy W-CDMA. In that we are seeing the truth manifest itself from behind ERICY's public relations fortress, we are now closer to convergence then we were before. Is it over? No. Is the correct outcome inevitable? Yes.

I will be very interested to see how our friends over the pond attempt to explain this latest development in light of their oft-proclaimed position that QC does not having blocking IPR. Please...please...do not attempt to characterize this as a philanthropic, selfless action designed to promote peace and world prosperity...or I will be forced to wretch on my shoes.

Best regards,

Gregg
