That article on Boeing's supply chain management is great. The investment point I glean from it is that NOBODY (including me) believes they can pull off that vision. The reason you invest in a time of doubt is that a lot of other companies have done it. But building an airplane is tough - it is very different from making a PC or making a car. If you've ever been in Boeing's plant, its obvious. Taking a car or a computer off the assembly line is one thing. Taking a 747 off the assembly line is a logistical nightmare - where do you put it? I think you have to see the factory (which is the size of DISNEYLAND - all under one roof) to appreciate their challenge.

The point is if they could pull that vision off, the upside is enormous. And even if they can't, the downside is manageable, and you've still got the long term growth on your side. I'll take those odds.
