Here are some figures I found on the number of internet hosts, in millions. If you graph this, you find exponential growth, with the number of hosts currently doubling roughly every year. Now, if the traffic is doubling every 100 days, or roughly 3 months, as you report, that means the traffic per host is growing 4 times faster than the growth in hosts. I guess that is not surprising, with the increasing use of streaming audio/video and e-commerce, not to mention web cam pictures of people's cats.
