Someday, when the Internet is all it's cracked up to be, the NFL will post this kind of stuff on its Web site ( nfl.com ). It sure would be cool (at least to a dork like me) if we could peruse the actual NFL rule book on the Net.

Guys-
In the first round of the playoffs, you're right, the divisional winner
can have a worse record and have the higher seed, but that reason
is only for who gets homefield advantage. The 3rd division winner always
gets one home game regardless of record because they're the only division winner who has to play a wildcard game.
After the first game, everything goes according to record. There's no question about it. Because it's the team with the better record that
get's homefield over any team with a worse record from that point on.

One thing I wanted to add on another subject.

The Steelers may have got robbed on that coin flip call, but at least they
had a chance to defend.

The Seahawks call was definitely the biggest robbery of the year
and definitely will effect the most personel changes. Not that they wouldn't have occured anyway, but beating the Jets on the road
would have been big for any coach.

But sometimes your on the right end of the call, and sometimes you get
screwed. You usually have money on it when it goes against you.
