Nationwide, they are surprisingly strong. I do not know at this time if what we are seeing here is a more centralized weakness in employmen,t or if it shall continue to move out. Last week we had announcements from J&J and one other major of large layoffs.

If posters reading this thread are aware of any layoffs in their area,
please advise or pm me. The large companies announce this and it makes press nationwide. What I am more interested in are the smaller regional companies, local private companies...

I do not question that there is a slowdown, I just would like to know before the market does, to what extent. Please keep your eyes open to this and advise. I live in Wisconsin.

(BTW, I have served on the PIC board for 11 years, and this is the first time we are experiencing such significant lay offs in such a tight timespan.)

I suggest you look at the cbsmarketwatch.com, there is a article explaining the employment data. It is mainly due to seasonal construction and retail hiring. Wall Street analysts are deliberately avoiding looking the facts below the superficial unemployment number, and set small investors up for a big fall later on.
